STEP 1 – CONCEPTING
Landscape Concept Design
With 2D concept plans, planting plans and 3D modelling & available, this gives you everything you need to visualise your new garden and put the build out to tender.
- Personalised consultations ensuring the garden is custom designed specifically for you and your families needs, now, and into the future.
- Expert Site Assessment inc topsoil tests, site conditions and microclimates
- Concept Plans detailing zones, materials, beds, lawns, fencing, traffic flow, retaining systems, pools, features & structures.
- Moodboards detailing overall aesthetic, materials, colours, pots & styling.
- Planting Plans inc botanical & common names, quantities & sizes.
Upgrade: 3D Visualisation
If you struggle to visualise how plans might look in reality, having 3D renders can really give you valuable piece of mind. This particularly makes sense when you’re planning to spend a fair bit of time and money building the garden.
STEP 2 – COSTING
Working Drawings
Once the Concepts Drawings are in place, we build them out into easy-to-follow construction drawing sets for your build team.

- Landscape introductions - during this phase we'll introduce you to our preferred suppliers to kick off the costing process
STEP 3 – CONSTRUCTION
Planting & Styling Support
To help you finish the job right, we are there to support you during the construction phase:
- Landscaper liasion helping realise the design with your builders and priority access to troubleshooting any unexpected issues that pop up during construction.
- Plant order - source the plant selection & arrange delivery, making appropriate substitutions when out of stock.
- Plant layout - laying out your plants ready for installation.
- Styling- preordering any long lead-time materials and accessories, installing large scale pots and planters.
- Plant care guidance- introducing you to your plants and their care
STEP 4 – GROWTH
Maintenance & Horticultural Support
Now that your garden is installed you have to protect that investment.

A basic masterplan can range from $850 - $1,850 whilst a complete garden redesign can range from $1,150 to $4,000 depending on the size and complexity of the block.
Garden designers, landscape architects, landscapers and horticulturists all work in the landscaping industry. They have different expertise so here's a quick breakdown for you:
Garden or Landscape designer: Operating like an architect-cross-stylist for external spaces, their primary focus is the layout, material & plant selection to match the clients brief.
The designer provides artistic and construction documents that Landscapers can quote and build to.
Garden designs are part-artist, part-horticulture, part-architect.
Landscape architect: Like a Garden designer except they work on bigger more structurally challenging projects, often commercial or public zones, and charge accordingly.
Landscaper: A landscaper is who will actually build your garden for you. This is usually the bulk of the cost of a garden.
Horticulturist: A horticulturist or someone who has studied horticulture, has studied the care and identification of plants. Whilst they will be able to advise on what plants can thrive in a space, they usually do not provide drawings suitable for construction.
Yes, La Muxlow Gardens can arrange all your plants for you. Ordering plants through your designer and not through a nursery or landscaper, means that where substitutions are required, the design remains intact.
Yes, irrigation plans are not required for every garden so offered on a case by case basis. In Melbourne's climate most gardens will need a minimum or daily watering during the Summer to keep it looking it's best.
